Merchants Bank Hires Steve Molander as New Chief Information Officer

Steve Molander has joined Merchants Bank as Senior Vice President/Chief Information Officer (CIO), according to Greg Evans, President & Chief Executive Officer. Molander will replace current CIO, Stephen Swenson, who will retire at the end of the year.

His deep skillset in information security will help Merchants continue to enhance our digital banking offerings, IT infrastructure to support the business and security management,” said Evans. “We know that our customers expect easy-to-use platforms and tools and continue to make developing our technology toolset a top priority.”
Molander has more than 30 years of experience in information technology, with 23 years exclusively in roles with community banks. He was most recently Chief Technology Officer for Falcon Bank and also served in IT leadership roles for Frandsen Financial Corporation and 21st Century Bank. He has experience implementing company-wide technology solutions, modernizing technology and security programs and infrastructure to maintain customer data security, leading transformational change efforts across organizations and more.

I’m excited to come on board with a focus on modernizing the tools and services that help us provide better financial assistance to our customers,” said Molander.
Molander is a graduate of St. Cloud State University. He is a Twin Cities/Metro area native and has been an active volunteer in those communities for several years.
